Well done to all our competitors at last weekend’s Derry Fleadh in The Loup, in particular to those who were taking part for the first time, and congratulations to our whistle tutor, Roise McCloy, on winning the newly composed tune competition. It was a great weekend, brilliantly organised by Loup CCÉ with plenty of events, competitions and sessions, and blessed with great weather throughout.
We were delighted to be able to donate a cup in memory of our late chairperson, Mary Cassidy, which will be awarded each year to the winner of the 12-15 concertina competition. The inaugural winner is Ronan McCann from Loup CCE and he’s pictured here receiving the cup from three of Mary’s daughters, Eimear, Theresa and Roseena.
Our activities for the first half of the year conclude with our final monthly session this Friday in the Social Room at Newbridge GAC Hall.
