Ulster Fleadh 2017

We have four qualifiers to report from the weekend’s Ulster Fleadh in Bangor. Congratulations to Roise McCloy who came 2nd in the U-12 piano, and to Hugh Mulholland, Anthony Totten and Roisin Magee who were all in the Ceoltoiri Crosskeys O-18 Grupa Ceoil that also finished 2nd.
Our other prizewinners, all with 3rd place medals included Annie Diamond (U-12 whistling), Caoimhe O’Kane (15-18 tin whistle slow airs), Patrick Magee (15-18 mandolin) and Hugh Mulholland (O-18 mandolin). Caoimhe and Patrick also achieved third place as members of the Ceoltoiri Crosskeys 15-18 Grupa Ceoil.
I know we say it every year, but the standard of musicianship on display over the weekend was incredible and will hopefully serve as an inspiration to our young musicians who were there to experience it first hand.
Well done to all our competitors who took part and best of luck to all those from our branch, Derry and Ulster who will be representing the province at the All-Ireland Fleadh in Ennis on 18th-20th August.
